Ava McKenzie is a creature of habit. Life is passing her by and she has nothing to show for it. She’s had the same job since she started college, she orders the same dish every time she goes to her favorite restaurant, and only reads books from authors she knows. There is nothing new or surprising in her life… until her best friend marries a man from London. When her newlywed friend asks her to house-sit while she honeymoons, Ava jumps at the chance. She thinks this could be the very thing she needs to shake up her life. Ava throws herself head first into her new lifestyle; she wants to try everything, go everywhere, and never get stuck in a rut again. Of course, offing a man in a car garage hadn’t been one of the things on her list to try.

Owen Walker spends every day in a new place with a new case. As one of the most renowned assassins in the world, he has his choice of marks—and he’s never failed in a mission. When a new hit takes him back to his hometown, he looks forward to spending time somewhere familiar. What he isn’t expecting is to help an attractive, confused American woman find out how she’s ended up on a hit man’s list.

As Ava and Owen dodge bullets, will they be able to escape their undeniable attraction to each other? Or will all of that chemistry blow up in a shower of hot and dangerous sparks?
“Heaven.” I murmured against her skin. “You’re my heaven, Ava.”
Before I go to my review, I would like to warn you that I’m going to be using pieces of lines from the novel. I just love Owen and could not resist showing you guys why.

First off, the heat level of this novel can melt metal. I kid you not; I didn’t anticipate that the sexual tension will reach the top for the early parts of the story. Even simple things will transform into something sexy. As what Ava had said, I was tempted to check and see if my panties had spontaneously combusted. Don’t be fooled though. There weren’t many stories from both of their past lives but the gradual attraction they have for each other didn’t stop from physical things. It didn’t feel rushed.

Ava. She is now one of my favorite characters. She wanted to shake things in her life and then she offed a man accidentally. Her reactions were spot on. Even with a very hot guy frisking her, she still reacted accordingly. Ava didn’t act like a lovesick puppy tailing Owen. She’s sweet and innocent but also fierce. In more ways than one, she became an accidental assassin.

Owen. There’s something oddly attractive to a killer, ready to slaughter whoever harms the people he cares about. His accent and killer looks – pun intended – couldn’t hurt too. Well, who are we kidding? I love Owen!  He isn’t afraid to show how he feels OR even say it out loud. He was selfless but also selfish. Owen wanted to protect Ava but at the same time, he wasn’t pushing her away. Basically, he had balls.

Nichole Chase, please make this into a series! I would love to read more of Ava and Owen and also from Tessa & Danny, Kenny, Mavis and Vitz.

The Accidental Assassin won’t make you sleep at night until you’ve finished it. It’s full of mischiefs and a little bit of drama but also sweet and steamy. Amidst danger and risks, Owen and Ava will find themselves trusting each other …and then some.

Fingers crossed for a sequel!
(Highlight to see my favorite lines from the novel. Warning: A little spoilery.)
“I’ll never lie to you, Ava.”

“…You make me feel human. And for that, you’re worth more than you’ll ever understand. You’re worth everything.”

“Heaven.” I murmured against her skin. “You’re my heaven, Ava.”

“Caught.” I held up my hands in defeat. “Sexy. He was sexy.”
“And he knew it.”
“They usually do.” I shook my head and looked at the cup.

Wait a minute. Was I contemplating keeping Owen? Owen, the hot assassin? The Owen that-had-driven-me-to-brink-of-insanity-with-pleasure Owen?

“I’m not much for words, Ava, but I want you to know something.”
“What’s that?” I brushed his hair out of his eyes.
“I love you.”

My Ava.
